The Ghana Qualifier of the 2023 Afro Break International, held in La, Accra, garnered significant attendance and was characterized by excellent organization, fair judging, and a well-deserved victory for B Boy Blesso.
B Boy Blesso emerged victorious by defeating B Boy Calams, who had been underestimated by other participants. B Boy Calems impressed the audience by blending cultural and Azonto dances with hip-hop moves, earning him the runner-up position.
B Boy Blesso, originally a Ghanaian who relocated to Nigeria to study Karate, later transitioned to breaking and has now realized his dream. As part of his prize, he will have the opportunity to travel to France, the host country of the 2024 Olympic Games, for exposure and learning experiences.
In his gratitude, B Boy Blesso acknowledged the support of the Most High, as well as the organizers and sponsors of the event for providing him with a platform to showcase his talent.
The female category was won by B Girl Tris Naomi, who outperformed B Girl Myriam. Meanwhile, B Boy Lord Issac claimed victory in the Kids Battle. Notably, Nigerian Bboy Paul A D, the darling of the show, triumphed in the Guest Battle, competing against dancers from Nigeria, Benin, and Togo.
The event featured captivating performances by top dancers from various communities, and the youth of La showcased their remarkable talents as well.
Judges from the USA and France, namely, Tafiya, Khalifa, and Gidinasty, assessed participants based on criteria such as fair play, creativity, audience engagement, attire, and technical skills.
The French community in Ghana showed robust support, with Monsieur Julien Lecas, Head of Cultural Cooperation at the French Embassy, expressing satisfaction with their involvement.
Hon. Emmanuel Menassah, the local Assemblyman, was among the enthusiastic spectators who witnessed this entertaining fusion of arts, culture, and sport.
B B Lyricx, the founder of Afro Break Academy, extended congratulations to all participants and winners while urging more companies to join hands in supporting, sponsoring, or partnering with the Breaking Federation and Afro Break Academy.
The grand international finale is scheduled to take place in Ghana on November 18 at the Tetalta Entertainment Center in Dzorwulu, Accra.
